About Us
Norton & Rain, Inc is an independent insurance agency. This allows us to provide you with a choice of products and prices, and with the personal service you deserve. This is important because as independent brokers we don’t work for the insurance company, we work for you. We are a local insurance agency. When you call with a question or have the occasional problem and need to discuss a possible claim situation, you are making a phone call directly to our office.
Our Staff Includes – Don Norton, John Rain, Paul Barbary, Chris Norton, Chris Wissehr and Janet Lenhardt

Don Norton, an Alton, Illinois native, has been in the insurance business since 1964. Don is a Chartered Life Underwriter, a Chartered Financial Consultant and a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Don also remains active in community activities. |
John Rain is also an Alton native and has been in the insurance business since 1975. John remains active in his church and in numerous community service organizations. We are licensed to sell insurance in Illinois and Missouri. |
Paul Barbary was born and raised in Alton. He has been in the insurance business since 1991 and continues to be involved with several non-profit organizations in the area. Paul can help manage your personal, commercial and health insurance needs. |
Chris Norton, a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow, also an Alton native specializes in the health insurance field. Whether you need an individual health insurance plan, short term health insurance, medicare supplements, or if you are looking for a group insurance program for your business, Chris can find the best product for you. |
Chris Wissehr was born in Alton and was raised in the Bethalto area. Chris has been in the insurance business for over 30 years and continues to be an integral part of our staff at Norton & Rain. |
Janet Lenhardt was born in Alton and has been in the insurance business since 1975. Janet has concentrated her time on the life and health insurance side of the business and is a wealth of knowledge regarding these lines of businesses. |
